It’s Still All Just Learning To Me

Billy Joel - ACC - April 20th 2007

If Billy Joel sung about learning rather then rock and roll it might go something like this…

It’s Still All Just Learning To Me

What’s the matter with the term I’m using?
Can’t you tell that it’s all the same?
Maybe I don’t get all the variations
Arguing bout this gets pretty lame
What if my learning was purely experimental?
Even though it was completely accidental?
Everybody’s talkin bout all the learning types
Funny, but it’s still just learning to me.

What’s the matter with the simple term learning?
Do we have to hear about your learning style?
What would happen if you explained all the types?
I get the sense we’d be here a while.
What about the time I learned by myself?
All I did was read the book off my shelf.
Self directed, not perfected, even if I fully reflected…
It’s still all just learning to me

Oh, it doesn’t matter how many types you can recite
‘Cause it keeps getting more obscene
Learning is the root of what we’re doing
And it helps keep this all clean
Gets rid of a future smoke screen…

How bout the learning that’s done online?
Do we really need the big or the little “e”?
You could spend lots of time with this
We’re not competing for a spelling bee
Don’t worry if you’re talking with your peers
And the temptation to use “social” learning appears
New fad, not all bad, iPad, maybe I’ve been had…
It’s still all just learning to me

What’s the matter with this 8 letter word?
Don’t you think that is says enough?
We all have our areas of expertise
I know it contains a lot of stuff
Don’t worry if it’s project-based, in your face, just-in-case,
Even if it’s in a virtual space
Be careful about the next craze, be brave, no essay, anyways
It’s still all just learning to me.
Everybody’s talkin’ bout the “m” and the “e”
Funny, but it’s still all just learning to me
